Chris has spent nearly four decades in fine jewelry and at the bench.
He approaches design from the perspective of the person who eventually has to make the piece work in metal, hold the stones securely, survive daily wear, and still look refined from every angle.
That matters because a rendering can be beautiful and still be poorly engineered.
Chris has owned and operated a fine jewelry business since 2003 and helped shape Diamond Consulate around the parts of the business clients rarely see: structure, craftsmanship, stone setting, repairability, and what happens to jewelry after the first photograph.
He oversees Diamond Consulate’s design standards and quality rather than working in the studio day to day. Every consultant is trained to the standards he set.
Donovan leads the Oklahoma City consulting team and is in the studio most days, directing the consultation experience, diamond comparison and the custom design process.
His background includes custom engagement rings, wedding bands, statement pieces, gemstone jewelry, and heirloom redesign.
He holds the Accredited Jewelry Professional diploma from the Gemological Institute of America, with training in diamond fundamentals, colored stones, and jewelry product knowledge.
He trains the team to ask how the jewelry will be worn before asking which trend you have saved most often.
The first question usually produces the better ring.
Diamond Consulate was not built to see as many clients as possible.
There are two consultation studios.
That limits how many conversations can happen at once.
Good.
The limit protects the reason the studio exists: one-on-one attention, preparation, discretion, and enough time to reach the right decision without turning the experience into a showroom floor.
What appears in the cases is there to begin a conversation.
Not end one.
Good jewelry should not require pressure.
Questions are part of the process.
Smaller can be better.
Larger can also be better, when that is actually the goal.
Laboratory-grown is not “less.”
Natural is not automatically “more.”
The grading report is not the diamond.

Live Collaborative CAD Design allows clients to see a custom ring or jewelry model develop on screen and participate in changes to proportion, setting height, band width, stone placement, and detail before production.
