So we built something different.
Private engagement ring and custom jewelry consultations for wedding bands, milestone pieces, heirloom redesign, natural and lab-grown diamonds, and one-of-a-kind design. One client. One designer. As much time as the decision deserves.
Reserve a Private ConsultationA private setting, side-by-side comparisons and a design process built around the people in the room.
Designing meaningful jewelry should be one of the most enjoyable parts of owning it.
A custom engagement ring. An anniversary piece. A family diamond ready for another generation. A milestone that deserves something made specifically for it.
Some consultations begin with a Pinterest board. Some begin with a napkin sketch. Some begin with an inherited ring and a story. Others begin with, “I have absolutely no idea where to start.”
They are all perfectly good places to begin.
Because the design experience should feel creative. Collaborative. Engaging. Even fun.
It should become part of the story you tell every time someone asks about the piece.
That is what Diamond Consulate was built to do.
Book the eight o’clock. Have dinner on Western Avenue first. Classen Curve is practically next door, and Penn Square and The Oak are only minutes away.
Then come to a private studio prepared for your consultation. There may be champagne at the bar, diamonds on the table, and the beginning of a ring, pendant, bracelet, or heirloom redesign taking shape on the screen beside you.
Tuesday morning consultation? We make excellent coffee too. The point is not the champagne. It is that the room, the time, and the attention are yours.
Some consultations begin a proposal story. Others honor a marriage, preserve a family stone, or mark a chapter worth remembering. None of them should feel like an errand.
Reserve a Date-Night Consultation
Tell us the occasion, timeline, budget, and anything you already know. A photo helps. So does a Pinterest board. So does bringing the old ring you have worn for thirty years and saying, “I love the stone. I am ready for everything around it to change.” Your consultant prepares before you walk in.
Compare natural and lab-grown diamonds side by side under magnification while exploring custom engagement ring settings, wedding bands, or custom jewelry ideas. See what cut, color, clarity, shape, proportion, and price actually look like instead of memorizing a chart and hoping for the best.
Move from conversation to sketch and then into collaborative CAD design. Watch the band become lighter, the center stone sit lower, or the profile change while the design is still easy to change.
Once the design is approved, your piece is entrusted to experienced jewelers for production. You receive clear expectations for timing, materials, documentation, and final presentation.
A diamond should never be a mystery, and it should never be chosen from a certificate alone.
At the Diamond Table, loose diamonds are placed in front of you side by side. Natural and lab-grown. Different shapes. Different cuts. Different price points.
You can compare them under magnification, turn them in the light, and see how a beautifully cut diamond performs next to one that may look similar on paper.
An oval may feel elegant. An emerald cut may feel architectural. A radiant may have the energy you were looking for. Sometimes the answer is obvious the moment the stones are on the table.
The goal is not to overwhelm you with options. It is to make the differences clear enough that you can choose with confidence.
You are not buying a grading report. You are choosing the diamond that will become part of the piece.

Most custom jewelry still works the same way. You describe an idea to one person, who sends notes to another person, who emails a rendering a few days later. You reply. You wait. The proportions still are not quite right. You reply again.
At Diamond Consulate, the design conversation happens with you in the room.
Think the engagement ring band feels a little too wide? Watch it become more refined in real time.
Wonder what the center stone would look like sitting slightly lower? We lower it while you watch.
Curious whether a hidden halo is too much, or just enough? We can show you both in seconds.
Would you rather see Grandma’s diamond become a modern pendant instead of another ring? We can build both options before your eyes.
Maybe the bracelet should be a little more delicate. Maybe the earrings need just a touch more movement. Maybe the proportions are almost perfect, but not quite.
The point is that you never have to imagine what those changes might look like. You see them happen.
That is the difference between receiving a rendering and experiencing Live Collaborative CAD Design.
Explore Live CAD DesignDiamond Consulate was created by the ownership behind Christopher Fine Diamonds, one of Arizona’s highest-rated independent custom jewelers. Since 2003, the family-owned company has helped thousands of clients with custom engagement rings, bridal jewelry, anniversary pieces, and heirloom redesign, and was named a 2026 Best of the Valley winner by PHOENIX Magazine.
At the center of the concept is owner and master jeweler Chris Uptain, whose career spans more than forty years of designing, making, restoring, and evaluating fine jewelry. After decades at the bench and thousands of custom pieces, he came to one conclusion: the consultation deserved to be redesigned just as much as the jewelry itself.
That matters because the person helping shape your design understands how it will actually be built. The guidance comes from people whose experience extends from the consultation table to the jeweler’s bench, not simply from the sales floor.
Oklahoma City consultations are led by custom jewelry designer Donovan Smith, a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional. Together, the team brings design knowledge, diamond education, craftsmanship, and hospitality into one private experience.
After more than two decades creating custom engagement rings and fine jewelry, the conclusion was simple: the design experience deserved as much attention as the finished piece.
So Diamond Consulate was built around private rooms, prepared consultations, flexible appointment scheduling, Live Collaborative CAD Design, and hospitality centered on one client at a time.
Champagne if you are celebrating. Coffee if it is Tuesday morning. No interruptions. No pressure. Just the time and space to create something worth remembering.
Meet Diamond ConsulateStart with a diamond, an idea, or no idea at all. Your custom engagement ring consultation can include diamond selection, setting design, proportion review, and live CAD refinement around the person who will wear it.
Compare both with honest context on appearance, grading, price, long-term expectations, and the differences that matter in real life.
See proportions, structure, setting details, and profiles before production, then refine the piece while the design is still on the screen.
Find or create a band that fits the engagement ring, the wearer, and the way both pieces should feel together.
Reimagine inherited stones, redesign a piece you have outgrown, mark an anniversary, or create a ring, pendant, bracelet, or pair of earrings for the next chapter.
Explore precious metals, alternative materials, custom dimensions, finishes, engraving, and design details made for everyday wear.
You do not need to know the diamond, the setting, the right terminology, or even the final form. You only need a reason to begin.

A private jewelry consultation is a scheduled design experience devoted to one client or couple. It gives you time to compare diamonds, explore ideas, review materials, participate in the design, understand pricing, and create without the pace or distractions of a traditional retail floor.
Yes. Diamond Consulate is designed around scheduled consultations rather than walk-in traffic. Reserving in advance allows the studio to prepare the right diamonds, design references, and consultation space for your needs.
Private consultations are complimentary. We ask that you provide notice if plans change because the studio and consultant are reserved specifically for you.
The Diamond Table is the part of the consultation where loose diamonds are placed side by side so you can compare natural and lab-grown options, shapes, cuts, proportions, and price points in person and under magnification.
Yes. You can compare natural and lab-grown diamonds with clear context on grading, appearance, pricing, long-term considerations, and the advantages and tradeoffs of each option.
Yes. A custom engagement ring consultation can include natural or lab-grown diamond selection, engagement ring setting ideas, sketches, proportion review, wedding-band fit, and Live Collaborative CAD Design before the ring moves into production.
Yes. Consultations can also include wedding bands, anniversary jewelry, milestone pieces, pendants, earrings, bracelets, men’s jewelry, and heirloom redesign. The same collaborative process applies whether you are beginning with a new idea or working with stones you already own.
Most consultations last about ninety minutes. More involved custom design appointments may run closer to two hours. We do not schedule another client into your consultation room while you are still deciding.
No. Bridal is an important part of what we do, but Diamond Consulate is equally suited to anniversaries, milestone gifts, personal purchases, heirloom redesign, and custom jewelry created later in life. The consultation is built around the piece and the person, not a single occasion.
That is very much the idea. Beginning in November, private appointments can be planned around an evening on Western Avenue, making it easy to pair dinner with champagne, diamonds, and a private design consultation.
Many custom pieces require approximately four to six weeks after final design approval. Timing can vary based on the complexity of the design, material availability, stone sourcing, and the requested completion date.
Tell us the occasion, your timeline, and anything you already know about the design or diamond. We will prepare from there.

“Chris put the diamonds side by side and let our eyes make the first decision. The comparison made the grading reports far easier to understand.”
“Donovan explained where the certificate mattered and where the visible difference was minimal. That clarity helped us spend on what we could actually appreciate.”
“We expected a sales presentation and received an education instead. We left confident about the diamond because we had compared it in real life.”
